What is Coaching?
The International Coach Federation’s (ICF) definition of coaching is:
Partnering with clients in a thought provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potential
I think this really captures what coaching is all about. It really is a partnership between client and coach, we follow a process to unlock thoughts and ideas turning them into a goal, which truly encourages clients to be their very best.
Coaching isn’t counselling or therapy. We’ll firmly be focusing on where you are now and where you want to be. It’s very much looking to the future – imagine, believe, be.
Is Coaching for me?
Sometimes people find themselves stuck in a rut or just generally going round and round in circles. Perhaps you feel overwhelmed or dismiss your desires as too hard to achieve. Is that pesky inner voice limiting your self belief and damaging your confidence? If that sounds like you or if you find yourself in any of these situations you might want to consider coaching:
- Desire to increase personal performance and results in or out the workplace
- Challenges in the workplace, changing careers, redundancy, newly promoted or being groomed for promotion
- Improving personal organisation
- Relationship concerns
- Re-discovering what you’re passionate about or exploring your creative side
The benefits of coaching are endless but expect to feel more focused and energised, have a more positive outlook, better work/life balance, working more effectively and improved time management, and just enjoying life more.
How we’ll work together
Firstly we would meet for a free informal chat to talk through what you’d like to achieve and make sure I’m the right coach for you. My job as your Coach is to support and guide you through the coaching process and our partnership will normally last 3-6 months. Note the word ‘partnership’…I won’t tell you what to do or give you advice, you have all the answers within you. It can be quite challenging at times but this will always be done with respect.
Using specialist coaching tools and techniques I’ll work with you over 4-6 sessions lasting around 1-1.5 hours per session. We can meet in person in central Edinburgh, Peebles and the surrounding area, or by telephone if you’d prefer. I can offer appointments Monday to Friday after office hours, or at the weekends between 10-4pm. Sessions can be paid for individually or in blocks at a discounted rate.
